Welcome to helpinghandsaiken.org

Greetings! Welcome to the Helping Hands, Inc. website.

Located in Aiken, SC, Helping Hands is a 501 (c) 3, United Way agency that provides 24 hour residential care to child victims of abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Our residents range in age from birth to 21 years old. We serve male and female victims.

History
Helping Hands began in response to the needs of the children in our community. The need was discovered in 1973, when several citizens realized that the county jail was the only place to house children who had been displaced because they had been abused, abandoned, or neglected. Helping Hands, Inc. was formed in that year and has been meeting that need since then.

Mission
Our mission is to work unselfishly to ensure that all children are afforded every opportunity to grow into healthy adults. We strive to help our residents return to their families, when possible, and transition into the next phase of their lives.

Website
This website is another way for us to meet the needs of the community. Here, you will find information on our Programs and  Special Events. You can also see our Wish List and find out how you can help as a Volunteer. The portion of this site that I am most excited about is our KIDS ZONE, which is designed specifically for children who may have questions about child abuse and what they can do to help themselves and others.

I hope that this site is useful to you as a resource link, a community connector, and an information outlet. Please visit us often to see how this site is changing so that we can join together to meet our children’s needs. We are excited to extend our hand to you in partnership – please keep in touch!

Sincerely,

Carmen Landy
Executive
Director
